EPIC2020 will be a virtual event—join us!
As the pandemic escalates, we’ve been contemplating the forecasts, listening to our communities, and rejigging our lives. It’s now clear that EPIC’s treasured annual gathering must transform into a virtual event this year.
Although it’s heartbreaking to abandon our plans in Melbourne, our conference committee is energized by this opportunity: We can create new kinds of collective experience, truly taking on the EPIC2020 theme SCALE at a time when the isolation of social distancing is converging with an intimate sense of global proximity. We can locate the event around the world, expanding participation and reducing carbon-intensive travel.
Our committee needs a bit more time for Zoom meetings and thoughtful walks…and then we’ll have details to share. In the meantime:
We invite you to jump in and get involved! Whatever hemisphere and time zone you call home, you can participate in EPIC2020. There’s still time to submit your proposal and contact us with your ideas, expertise, and inspiration for this new endeavor.
Proposal review begins April 1. Submissions will be accepted through June 1
What this means: Committees will begin review on April 1. We know that writing a proposal before April 1 is difficult or impossible for some of you, so we will continue to accept submissions through June 1, or until the program is full, and review these on a rolling basis. All proposals are guaranteed a written review, and all acceptance notifications will go out June 30.
